26-year-old Jesse Joseph Fleming rode as a passenger to Matthew Fowler, who was speeding near Opry Mills around 8 p.m. on May 22nd. Officers observed Fowler in his gray Nissan Altima going 80 mph in a 55-mph zone and conducted a traffic stop, where they discovered he had a revoked license and asked him to exit his vehicle. Fowler consented to a search of his car, so they had Jesse Preston, the rear-seat passenger, and Fleming step out of the Altima. Then, officers located a black backpack next to where Preston was seated containing 31 grams of Methamphetamine, 3 grams of cocaine, and 20 Xanax bars, which he claimed after being Mirandized. Due to the narcotics being found, officers search Fleming as well. While searching Fleming, officers noticed a “large bulge” near his groin area, and Fleming tried to pull away until they regained control and found 16 grams of marijuana in his pants before detaining him. Fleming was taken into custody for resisting arrest, evading arrest, and simple possession.
