41-year-old Jenny Rodriguez left her child at their Murfreesboro Pike apartment residence by herself on June 19th. Officers were dispatched to the apartment regarding a 3-year-old who was crying and was found by a neighbor in front of her apartment door. When officers arrived, Rodriguez returned to the location and spoke with officers, claiming that her daughter was asleep. She explained that she did not want to wake her daughter up to go to the gas station. Rodriguez informed them that she had left but was only gone for about 30 minutes before she returned. Rodriguez also claimed that she was gone for so long because she only had cash, and none of the nearby gas stations were open to sell her gas. Rodriguez had family that lived below her apartment that could have cared for the child; however, she did not ask them to do so. Officers believe Rodriguez knowingly left her child home alone, which could have resulted in injury to her child, so she was cited for the incident that day. Rodriguez was later booked for child endangerment on July 9th.
