30-year-old Marcus Bernard Jackson was observed driving a red 2016 Nissan Altima on a closed road near 6th Avenue South and Demonbreun Street late June 23rd. Additional officers were called for assistance with an intoxicated driver, later identified as Jackson. When they arrived, they were advised that Jackson was speeding down Demonbreun Street and nearly struck officers who were signaling him to stop. After Jackson exited the car, he was detained until additional units got there. Responding officers requested him to perform sobriety tests; he agreed and showed multiple signs of impairment and reeked of alcohol. Jackson denied drinking and refused to submit a chemical sample for testing. Jackson was taken then into custody for reckless driving, driving under the influence, disobeying traffic laws, and an implied consent violation.
