18-year-old Brookelin Jackson was involved in an altercation with her uncle, Malachi Haynie, at his 24th Avenue North residence on August 20th. Once officers arrived and met with Haynie, he told them that his niece assaulted him. Haynie then explained that the altercation stemmed from an argument he got into with Jackson and two other people about a child. According to Haynie, the argument escalated between him and Jackson. He explained that she ended up pushing and punching him several times. Haynie stated that the assault ended once one of the people involved in the argument pulled her off of him.
When officers spoke with Jackson, most of her statements corroborated his until she got to the physical altercation. Jackson admitted to starting the fight with Haynie. Jackson stated that she only started the fight because she saw Haynie puffing up his chest. After speaking to Jackson, officers were provided a video of one of the witnesses recording the incident. The footage showcased Jackson pushing Haynie twice and then punching him in the face several times. Jackson was then taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.
Brookelin M. Jackson of 24th Avenue North of Nashville, TN, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 20th, charged with domestic assault. She is free on a $1,000 bond.
