57-year-old Bryan Carrillo was seen publicly intoxicated near Gate C21 of the Nashville International Airport on August 17th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Southwest Airlines agents. The agents informed the officers that a man named Bryan Carrillo was too intoxicated to fly and had been rebooked for the following morning. They mentioned that he had been drinking at 400 Degrees across from the gate. Southwest Airlines agents also claimed that he was flying to get treatment for his alcoholism. The officers then approached Carrillo, who was seated in a corner and on the phone with Banyan Treatment Center in Texas. While speaking with Carrillo, officers noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath and that he appeared agitated and belligerent. They also observed his shaking legs as he sat. Carrillo then began yelling and cursing, and when ordered to stop, he refused.
Officers explained that he needed to leave the airport because his flight had been rebooked for the next day. They then offered him options to stay at the Hilton hotel nearby or take a taxi to another hotel. However, Carrillo insisted that he did not wish to stay at a hotel and demanded that the officers take him back to his home in South Carolina. Carrillo then asked if he was in Texas, to which the officers clarified that he was in Tennessee. When asked if he had money for a hotel, Carrillo said he had none. He tried contacting his wife for money, but she did not answer his phone call, so he texted her. Carrillo then began walking towards the exit and calling his wife, to which she finally answered. After speaking with his wife, officers explained to her that Carrillo needed money for a hotel or he would go to jail. At this point, Carrillo began yelling and cursing again, and it became apparent that he could not care for himself. Carrillo was deemed too intoxicated to care for himself and was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Bryan Christopher Carrillo was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 17th, charged with public intoxication. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $100.
