23-year-old Shelbey Cyrena Taylor had a domestic altercation with her boyfriend, Aaron France, at their Toney Road residence around 12:45 a.m. on August 20th. France told responding officers that while he and Taylor were playing video games, she believed someone online had called her a name, causing her to become upset. France further explained that he and Taylor had a verbal dispute that escalated when she put a hand around his neck and applied pressure.
He stated this constricted his airway for about twenty seconds. France added that Taylor punched him in the face about ten times when she strangled him. Officers observed that France had a small cut on his neck and blood on his shirt. Then, Taylor told the police that she tried “to choke” France but did not get close enough to do so. Taylor was taken into custody for aggravated assault on August 21st.
Shelbey Cyrena Taylor was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail on August 21st, charged with aggravated assault. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $25,000.
