DUI: Candice Jenkins crashes into utility pole after drinking 5 shots of vodka

31-year-old Candice Jenkins crashed her 2018 Chevrolet Cruze into a utility pole on Davidson Street late June 7th. The accident caused her airbags to deploy, and the pole was broken, lying in the street with the wires down. She explained that she was sending a “pin” to her boyfriend from her phone when she hit the pole, adding that she was not insured. Her boyfriend had been a couple of minutes behind her in a U-Haul truck with her son. She showed signs of impairment but denied any alcohol consumption, so they prompted her with sobriety tests, which she consented to and performed poorly. Eventually, Jenkins admitted to consuming a “small amount” of alcohol while stating, “There was a reason I wanted my son not to ride with me” several times. Under Miranda, she stated she had about five shots of vodka and had been sober for three years until three days ago. She provided a breath sample resulting in 0.18 BAC% and was taken into custody for driving under the influence.
