Responding officers could not reach the couple until they called Bradshaw’s mother, who got them to open the door. Bradshaw told officers that she and Hong had multiple arguments throughout the day. Bradshaw noted that she started packing her things to leave when they returned to the apartment. Then, she said Hong restrained her, bear-hugging her from behind, and that he grabbed her when she tried exiting the unit, causing her to fall out. After this, he pulled her back into the residence, and once she fought back, he put her in a chokehold. Bradshaw explained that she could not breathe at certain times during their dispute, adding that she screamed, but Hong had covered her mouth. Hong then moved in front of her and began strangling her, to which she responded by grabbing him by the neck. Then Bradshaw eventually contacted her mother, who alerted the authorities. Bradshaw advised officers that she calmed Hong down following the incident. Officers observed visible marks that she sustained and then spoke with Hong. Hong stated they argued because she left him at the DMV but that no threats or acts of violence had occurred. When the police confronted him, he said that Bradshaw “choked” and slapped him. He then stated that he held her arms to make her stop. The police asked him why he wouldn’t let her leave if she had assaulted him, and he responded that he wanted her to apologize. After both parties were medically cleared, officers deemed Hong the primary aggressor. Hong was then taken into custody for aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
