Barry Downer assaults wife during struggle over remote

51-year-old Barry Hunter Downer had a domestic incident with his wife, Kristy Downer, at their Neelys Bend Road residence on the night of May 12th. Mrs. Downer called the police to Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital, advising them that at around 7:45 p.m., her husband had told their son to turn off a TV show he’d been watching and go to sleep. Kristy told Barry she would have him in bed by 8 p.m. when he aggressively grabbed the remote. While Kristy tried to get it back, a struggle ensued, leaving a laceration on her right hand. She said after the altercation, she put her son to bed and went to the hospital. Mr. Downer was taken into custody for domestic assault on May 13th.

Justin Taylor charged in theft of Chrysler Aspen

40-year-old Justin Taylor was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle on Nolensville Pike after he pulled out in front of a patrol vehicle, nearly causing a wreck. After running the plate, officers realized it returned to a stolen vehicle and initiated a felony stop and arrest. Taylor claimed he was in the process of buying the truck from his boss but was unable to provide any paperwork, and the vehicle owner recovered the vehicle from the tow-in lot.

Drunken Finland Tourist Janne Kiema attempts to enter home that isn’t his AirBNB

51-year-old Janne Petteri Kiema, a tourist from Finland, was found attempting to get into a home on Woodvale Drive that he believed to be his AirBNB. Officers arrived at the location and again explained this was not his AirBNB. Officers noted his extreme level of intoxication, and when asked the address of his AirBNB, he continued to give an address in Finland. He was unable to contact anyone for assistance and was taken into custody for public intoxication.

Andrew Norelli jailed after interfering with the arrest of his friend, an off-duty cop, in downtown Nashville

32-year-old Andrew Norelli and several friends became “very upset” in downtown Nashville Saturday night when Metro Nashville Police arrested a member of their friend group, who is an off-duty police officer from New York, after he assaulted an off-duty police officer working security at Valentine’s Bar. Once the friend had been handcuffed and placed into a patrol car, Norelli became hostile to officers demanding to know what occurred and approaching the door of the transport car. He continued to be aggressive to police and others and took a fighting stance when asked to cooperate and calm down. After refusing to stay out of the way of the incident, Norelli was also taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct.
