DUI: Carlos Raymundo falls asleep behind the wheel of his Honda Civic

25-year-old Carlos Raymundo was observed blocking a traffic lane with his Honda Civic on Old Hickory Boulevard on June 14th. Officers found that Raymundo was asleep with his hand on the gear shift and his keys in the ignition. Law enforcement attempted to wake Raymundo up multiple times by knocking on the window and announcing that they were Meto Police, but he showed no signs of waking. Officers decided to use a window breaker to get inside the vehicle, take the keys out of the car, and wake Raymundo up. Raymundo identified himself with a passport because he did not have a driver’s license.

After being asked to step out of his car, Raymundo demonstrated multiple signs of being intoxicated, including the strong odor of alcohol exuding from his breath. Inside Raymundo’s vehicle, officers observed an open container of Modelo and an open container of Corona. There were also three empty 32-ounce containers of Modelo, one empty 24-ounce container of Modelo, and an empty container of Michelob Ultra. Raymundo refused to perform sobriety tests but consented to a blood draw, so he was transported to General Hospital. After his blood was drawn, Carlos Raymundo was transported to booking and charged with driving under the influence, open container violation, and no driver’s license.
