Elaine Nugent charged in brutal candlestick holder assault of her son — blames it on him

73-year-old Elaine McCarty Nugent, of Joelton, is charged with the wild aggravated domestic assault of her grown son using a candlestick holder, leaving him with three bloody severe lacerations to the top of his head. When confronted about the assault, she tried to downplay that anything happened, eventually blaming her own son, saying he must have injured himself since he was “mentally ill and suicidal,” a claim she attempted to use multiple times. She was “verbally combative and uncooperative” during the investigation, according to officers. Her disdain for the law and law enforcement isn’t anything new, as she frequently ignores court dates and will be extradited to Sumner County when she’s done in Nashville to face multiple failures to appear and a DUI case she’s been avoiding there since 2019.

Everyone goes to jail: Carlandro Branch, Destinee Turnipseed, & Maicole Shelton

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on April 25th to find that 22-year-old Carlandro Branch had taken the phones of both 20-year-old Maicole Shelton and the mother of this child, 20-year-old Destinee Turnipseed, as they attempted to call the police to report that Branch had pulled her hair when during a child custody exchange. As he fled with their phones, Maicole Shelton grabbed a baseball bat and chased Carlandro Branch. The mother of the child, Destinee Turnipseed, also busted out two windows at the residence. She says she broke the first one in an attempt to get someone’s attention and the second one in anger. Everyone went to jail and bonded right out… the end. 

Woman says she was raped, he says it was consensual; police don’t charge the crime — Te’Quan Cartwright

19-year-old Te’Quan is charged with possession of brass knuckles, vandalism, interference with a 911 call, and domestic assault, after his ex-girlfriend, Johnyae Hooten, says he punched her in the face, raped her, and smashed her phone when she attempted to call 911 to report it.

Cartwright is free on a $5,000 bond.

Man charged in assault of boyfriend after he doesn’t want to go out — Richard Hall arrested

29-year-old Richard Hall is charged with the domestic assault of his boyfriend after police say he demanded the victim get ready to meet a friend, and the victim refused, saying he didn’t feel well. The couple, who was staying at a Goodlettsville hotel, had prior domestic disturbances, and as the victim attempted to call to report the current situation using code words, Hall reportedly took the phone from him, and threw him across the bed, resulting in bodily injury. Hall is charged with interfering with an emergency call and domestic assault, and is jailed in lieu of a $2,000 bond.

Man tackles woman to the ground, demanding her child get vaccinated — Thomas Conley arrested

21-year-old Thomas Conley is charged with domestic assault after police say he tackled 19-year-old Bree Shaffer to the ground during an argument over her child getting vaccinated. He reportedly stated “If you’re not going to take (the child) to get the vaccine, I’ll do it myself” and picked up the child. Since isn’t the child’s biological father, she told him she would call the police, and which point he reportedly told her she wasn’t going to call anybody, and eventually tossed her phone off a balcony, preventing her from calling 911. He is free on a $3,500 bond.

Woman assaults mother, takes $10K from bank account, upset after DNA test result — Deborah Scales

53-year-old Deborah Scales took a DNA test which revealed the man she believed to have been her biological father her entire life was not her real father. Extremely upset, she confronted her mother about the results while assisting her with rice water therapy, as her father had just died. Court records and an investigation by Adult Protective Services reveal she threw the warm rice water on her mother, set off her LifeAlert bracelet during a physical struggle, and threatened to punch her elderly mother if she told the LifeAlert operator anything was wrong. She then took $10,000 from her mother’s bank account. She is charged with felony theft, interference with a 911 call, and domestic assault. She is free on a $29,000 bond.

A California woman says she was visiting her 39-year-old boyfriend Rickey Bates at his SkyHouse Nashville residence on Saturday when he punched her in the face, causing her to quickly become covered in blood. She called 911 and a call taker heard her pleading for help, but the call suddenly disconnected. When dispatch called back, he told them it was ‘just a butt dial’. When officers arrived, they found her face and hands still covered in blood from the assault.

Man accused of assaulting woman & refusing to let her leave after she denied him sex

20-year-old Isayah Batista is facing multiple charges after police say he asked a woman for sex and grew “irate” when she told him no. Court records allege he assaulted her and would not allow her to leave the apartment. The man’s roommate had to get involved so the woman could flee, at which time the man reportedly followed her, strangled her, and threw a marijuana grinder at her face out of anger.
