27-year-old James Patrick Steele caused a disturbance at The Omni Hotel on Representative John Lewis Way South in the early hours of July 26th. Responding officers located Steele sleeping on the lobby sofa and tried waking him, but he was unresponsive. Then, after they attempted a “sternum rub,” he started moving but did not fully open his eyes. Police grabbed Steele’s left arm and tried sitting him upright, to which he responded by pulling his arm away. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, officers performed a stronger “sternum rub” and raised their voices to wake him. Then, when asked where he was, Steele stated he was in Dallas, Texas. After officers informed him that he was in Nashville, Tennessee, his reply was, “Well sh*t.” Steele was taken into custody for public intoxication.
