DUI: Ruth Gianino tells police she only had “3 beers” before swerving on Gallatin Avenue

36-year-old Ruth Gianino was seen swerving between lanes on Gallatin Avenue on August 31st. Once officers observed this, they conducted a traffic stop. However, Gianino was too slow to pull over on the main road, so it was conducted in the shopping complex behind Gallatin Avenue instead. When officers made contact with Gianino, they reported that she was slow to talk to them. Officers noticed that she fumbled to gather her identification, prompting them to ask her to step out of her car. When Gianino stepped out of her vehicle, officers observed other signs of intoxication. Officers then prompted her to perform sobriety tests. Gianino consented to the tests and showed more signs of impairment, so she was taken into custody. While in custody, Gianino told officers she only had “3 beers” at the bar she was at before driving. Gianino was then transported to booking and charged with driving under the influence.

Tristan Williams hits boyfriend in head with piece of cement because he “kept following him”

27-year-old Tristian Williams was involved in an altercation with his boyfriend, Malik Wigfall, on Rep John Lewis Way North on August 13th. When officers arrived, Wigfall pointed them to Williams, who was holding a large piece of cement. Officers commanded Williams to drop the cement. Once Williams dropped the piece of cement, officers detained him and placed him in the back of their patrol car. While they were doing this, Wigfall told them that Williams hit him in the head with the piece of cement while they were leaving a parking garage. When officers spoke with Williams about the incident, he admitted to hitting Wigfall with the cement. Williams stated that he did so because Wigfall “Kept following him and was trying to steal his stuff.” Williams was later transported to booking and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on August 14th.

Latoya Hunt caught with pipe under John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge

45-year-old Latoya Hunt was seen underneath the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge on 2nd Avenue South on August 1st. While observing Hunt, officers noticed that she was holding a glass pipe with a dark residue. When officers approached Hunt, they observed several signs of impairment and asked her for identification. Hunt was unable to provide any satisfactory means of ID and was deemed a danger to herself. Hunt was taken into custody for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aime Mugabe flees car accident in Kia Optima with detached front-end bumper

19-year-old Aime Mugabe fled the scene of a car accident near 8th Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard on July 30th. Additional officers were dispatched to assist with the hit-and-run. Officer Hogan stated he witnessed a white Kia Optima with front-end damage leaving without stopping, rendering aid, or exchanging information. He added that he last saw the Kia heading northbound along 8th Avenue South towards Demonbreun Street. About an hour later, officers were dispatched to 4th Avenue North at the Ryman Auditorium regarding a possible car crash. Upon arrival, the police noticed the Kia Optima’s front-end bumper was detached, and four occupants were present. Three occupants stated that Mugabe was driving the white Kia Optima during the initial collision. Mugabe could not provide proof of insurance and was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident, failing to render aid, and having no proof of financial responsibility on July 31st.
